The design sample was made using Caron Simple Soft yarns, Lion Micro Spun yarn and size H crochet hook.
This super simple place mat and coaster set features sewn on snowflakes that are a snap to make. This pattern is ideal for a beginner.
Finished size of the place mat: 12” X 17”. Finished size of the coaster: 4” X 4-1\4”.

MATERIALS:

Caron Simply Soft yarn in Soft Green, Orchid and Soft Blue, Lion Micro Spun yarn in White, needle to take yarn and H hook or hook needed to obtain gauge.
FINISHED SIZE: Placemat: 12” X 17” Coaster: 4” X 4-1\4”
Gauge: 4 hdc = 1”, 3 rows hdc = 1”.
LARGE SQUARE PLACEMAT (6” X 6-1\2”):
ROW 1: With yarn and H hook ch-22, hdc 3rd ch from hook, hdc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (20 sts)
ROW 2-17: Hdc ea st across, ch-1, turn. End row 17 fasten off.
-Make one in Soft Blue, one in Soft Green and two in Orchid. With needle and yarn sew one Orchid square onto top of Soft Blue square and one Soft Green square on
