ROW 1: With Hunter Green yarn and G hook ch-54, dc 3rd ch from hook, dc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (52 sts)
ROW 2-3: (Dc dec next 2 sts) twice, dc across to last 4 sts, (dc dec next 2 sts) twice, ch-1, turn. At the end of row 3 fasten off. (48 sts)(44 sts)
ROW 4: Count over 3 sts from end row 3, join next st, ch-1, dc sa st as ch-1, dc next 37 sts, leave remaining sts unworked, ch-1, turn. (38 sts)
ROW 5-9: Dc ea st across, ch-1, turn.
ROW 10-11: 2 dc next st, dc across to last st, 2 dc last st, ch-1, turn. (40 sts)(42 sts)
ROW 12: Dc dec next 2 sts, dc across to last 2 sts, dc dec last 2 sts, fasten off. (40 sts)
HAT BAND:
ROW 1: With Black and G hook ch-40, dc 3rd ch from hook, dc ea ch across, ch-1, turn. (38 sts)
ROW 2: Dc ea st across, fasten off.
BUCKLE FOR HAT:
RND 1: With Cornmeal and G hook, ch-16, sl st to from a ring, * sc next 3 ch, (2 sc, ch-2, 2 sc) next ch, * rep bet **4 times, sl st top beg sc, fasten off.
